Russell Crowe as Ben Wade in the new version of 3:10 to Yuma wore a very common style in the 1860's to 1880's except that he had a unique hat band.  The low telescope crown and smallish brim was even worn by many confederate troops in the civil war. But, I must say that it never looked so good as with this unique band and worn by Russell Crowe. In 3:10 to Yuma Russell Crowe played a very serious and a very bad guy (with a spark of good) and his hat worked very well to reinforce that character. If you haven't seen the new 3:10 to Yuma yet, you should. It's a very good story and Russell Crowe really delivered for us in his portrayal of Ben Wade.
